/ WHAT IS TANOA CAFÉ?
Tanoa Café is an independent Black-owned brunch café in the heart of Bairro Alto, Lisbon. Created by Miriam and Gonçalo, it brings together food made to order, specialty coffee, matcha, fresh juices and genuine hospitality in a colourful, comfortable and unpretentious space.
Tanoa’s identity carries Miriam’s Cape Verdean roots and the Lisbon where we grew as a business: multicultural, close-knit and full of character. More than serving brunch, we want every person to feel welcome — a true “Safe spot for good hearts”.
/ WHAT IS OUR MISSION?
Our mission is simple: serve good, generous and consistent food, welcome every guest with warmth and create a space where different people can feel at ease. We want to show that a small independent Black-owned business can compete through quality, personality and the way it welcomes people through the door.
/ WHAT IS OUR VISION?
We want Tanoa to be recognised as one of Lisbon’s standout independent brunch spots — not by looking like everyone else, but by having an identity of its own. We want to grow without losing the human side, support our community, bring Tanoa to more people through catering and partnerships, and remain a “Safe spot for good hearts”.
